Blessed

Update on Hal & Hayes
Hal is getting ready to start 4 year old preschool. I took him for his 4 year check up this week. He is in the 90th percentile for height and the 97th percentile for weight. He is a big boy! I'm intentionally leaving out the details of the check up due to the nightmares I am still experiencing from Hal's reaction to getting his finger pricked.
We have had quite an interesting few months with this sweet boy. He has had to adjust to living with Mimi and Pop AND becoming a big brother. He has his ups and downs, but overall he has been a sweet big brother. Hal can definitely be described as STRONG WILLED, but he is also one of the funniest kids I have ever known. He cracks me up everyday with some of the stuff he comes up with. I am thankful that he seems to get along well with other kids, and is good natured.
Hayes will be 11 weeks old this weekend. He is also a big boy! I can't believe how fast he is growing and changing. He has been such an easy baby so far. He is laid back and easy going. He eats, sleeps, and smiles! The sleeping situation is manageable. Sometimes he sleeps for 6 hours straight, but most nights we are up every three hours. It is so exciting to watch him grow and change each week, but I'm hoping the time will slow down because I'm just not ready to give up my little baby just yet.

William "Bill" Carlton

My grandfather passed away this week. We will miss him very much, but I am glad he is finally at peace. I wanted to post these two pictures because this is the way I want to remember him. Love you, Papa.

Ready for some football?

Mimi and Pop took Hal to watch the Hueytown football team play a practice game tonight. Hayes didn't make the trip, but we had to get him in the picture. He wasn't happy about having his picture taken. That's the best we could do at dinner time!

Happy Birthday Penny Rose!

Rattlesnake On Nana's Street

The other day I was driving down Nana's street and saw this huge snake in the middle of the road. For some dumb reason, I swerved to avoid hitting the snake. The snake ended up moving into a big shrub and hiding. I called a friend of mine (Brad Jernigan for those of you from the Grove) to help us get rid of the snake. As he was trying to pull it out from under the bush, we heard the infamous rattle. It was a rattlesnake!
Everytime Brad tried to pull it out with the shovel, it would strike at him. We ended up calling the police for help. The police officer shot the snake with a shotgun, but the snake did not die. At that point, Brad was able to pull it out and chop it's head off. It is so scary to think that this thing could be slithering around in the yard where Hal is playing. Yikes!
